Enrichment and reprocessing of nuclear fuel
Janoušek, Petr ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
Nuclear fuel is one form of electricity generation. This bachelor thesis deals with its modification and processing as this fuel has to undergo special processes to ensure its good usability. The aim of the thesis is to list and analyze the main processes involved in the production of nuclear fuel. The thesis is, in particular, focused on the enrichment of nuclear fuel, which is the process of enhancing its properties. The first and second chapter of the paper discusses basic issues of first nuclear energy and then nuclear fuel. The third chapter of the thesis explains in detail the enrichment of nuclear fuel and also describes different methods of enrichment. Another process taking place after nuclear fuel is used is it's reprocessing. This method of converting used fuel into fuel that can be reused is dealt with in the last chapter of the thesis.
Description and Utilization of Small and Medium Sized Nuclear Reactors
Novotný, Filip ; Sklenka,, Ľubomír (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This Bachelor’s thesis examines the area of small- and medium-sized nuclear reactors and their roles in the early development of nuclear energy. The work covers current small- and medium-sized reactors in operation and considers future developments in this area. Included is an analysis of the possibilities for their use and applications in various areas of human activity. The work focuses on new projects of small- and medium-sized reactors, especially on projects considered for the near future. They are evaluated for nuclear weapons proliferation resistance, as well as their economic and technical advantages. Furthermore, an analysis was carried out of the possible uses of small reactors in propulsion of spaceships, and their use in various geographic areas. Knowledge acquired from this analysis applies to the situation in the Czech Republic. Both unrealized projects, and projects which may be realized in the future, have been described.
Nuclear energetics in CR and in the world
Peroutka, Tomáš ; Bartošík, Tomáš (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
This work is about a basic principles of nuclear reaction, creation of nuclear reaction and its development. Here is also described contemporary status and its level of progression. The first part is about a history of nuclear energy – its beginnings and further progress. Next the work deals with a nuclear power stations, nuclear reactors etc. The other part of this work is based on a nuclear waste. Then, I will write about a future of nuclear energy. The last point is creating the enegetic conception of our country.
Characteristics of fan cooling towers
Joska, Jakub ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of fan cooling towers. The very first part of the text is research, focusing mainly on the theory of cooling and the function of fan cooling towers in general. The following chapter deals with the water resource management of the Dukovany nuclear power plant and the specification of its objects of forced draft cooling towers. The second part describes a computational model created to determine the cooling performance of these towers under the given input conditions. In the following chapters, the results from the computational model are compared with the available data from warranty measurements and with the provided characteristics. The final pages deal with the study of the influence of changes in input parameters on the cooling performance and the research of the behavior of the cooling towers under extreme weather conditions.
Power-producing and Environmental Strategy of Czech Republic
Urbánek, Štěpán ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Špiláček, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with energy and environmental strategy of Czech Republic. Part of this work is the description of international and intrastate documents which describes conditions and strategy objectives that not only our country must reach and fulfil them. Next is processed structure of the energy mix of Czech Republic and its predictable progress. In the next part of the work there is a characterization of possibilities how to produce electricity by renewable resources or nuclear energy and concept of using these sources in the future. The last part of the work contains prospect of reducing emission greenhouse gases.
Nuclear power plants
Musil, Jiří ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with history and future of nuclear reactors, it describes nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic and provides a list of promising possibilities of using nuclear energy, that are currently in research. Description of the secondary circuit based on Czech nuclear power plants is also included in this thesis. In the beginning, some elementary knowledge about nuclear energetics is gathered, to provide readers with basics of this topic.

Harant, Miroslav ; Foral, Štěpán (referee) ; Vojáčková, Jitka (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis describes the design of the primary circuit simulation loop experimental facility for studying purposes boiling crisis. In the first part is explained the general issue of nuclear power plants. In the second part is elaborated in detail dealing with the crisis boil. The following is a description of the experimental device and it’s elaboration in the thermohydraulic program TRACE.
Nuclear energy in Czech republic
Říha, Tomáš ; Bogdálek, Jan (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with role of nuclear power in the Czech Republic. It analyses the contemporary condition of Czech power plant engineering and predicts its evolution up to the year 2020. It compares possible ways of development and evaluates its viability, political and energy safety and the impact on our environment. The life-prolongation of nuclear power plants and the potential construction of new facilities is taken into consideration. It shows the history of the nuclear power plant engineering in former Czechoslovakia and the problem of nuclear waste is mentioned too. Thesis provides a complex overview of the given topic and emphasizes the subsequent development of the nuclear power plant engineering as the essential part of the power mix.
Evaluation of power and coolant flow in reactor core
Tvrdý, Miloslav ; Šen, Hugo (referee) ; Nerud, Pavel (advisor)
This graduation thesis deals with evaluation of power and coolant flow in reactor core. The first part is a description of nuclear power plant VVER 440. It is focused on parts important for transfer and utilize energy in regular operating of generating block. In the second part, the equations for calculation of power and coolant flow in reactor core are deduced. The last part is about designing the program for calculation of published values. There are specified requirements for the program and on the basis of this the source code is written. The parts of code are described. In conclusion of this part, the user's manual is work out. The program is on CD in the annexe.
Investigation of nanomaterials for their nuclear power and research utilization
Jelínek, Martin ; ČEZ,, Jiří Skalička, (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the properties of various nanomaterials and summarizes the latest findings and knowledge of advanced applications in all sectors of nuclear power engineering from construction materials through nuclear fuel, fuel cladding, neutron moderator and coolant to the advanced methods for detection of ionizing radiation ad its direct utilization for electricity production. A significant space is devoted to the applications in safety systems of nuclear power plants. The experimental part of the thesis deals with the possibility of using carbon nanofibers as an additive to the coolant in VVER reactor type in order to improve the thermal properties of the coolant. So far a very little examined issues of neutron balance changes due to interaction with nanoparticles was experimentally verified on the paraffin wax mixture of two different concentrations. The comparison with the reference sample of pure paraffin was also made.
